The great philosopher Henry David Thoreau once said, “I love to be alone. I never found the companion that was so companionable as solitude.” Everybody needs a little time to themselves; Time to sit alone and just think about everything or nothing in particular.

We need alone time to just analyze and breathe, to get away from the world and escape the stress that our society seems to force upon us. Standing alone is good for us when it gives us the chance to simply be ourselves and try to figure things out on our own.

However, Author G.B. Shaw insisted that, “Independence”… [is] middle-class blasphemy.  We are all dependent on one another, every soul of us on earth.” What he meant by this is that although solitude can benefit us at times, being intricately involved with our community and society in general is critical. Every once in a while we all need support, someone to look out for us and watch our back, someone who can take care of us in ways that we cannot.

We all have our strengths. If you are a dentist, others can come to you for help. But when you need a plumber, you need to go to someone else for help. And although I have a few talents and skills, filling teeth and unclogging drains aren’t some of them.

My ability to write, for example, is distinct from your ability to create word processing software. But the two need and rely on each other. The fact is that although being independent has its benefits, so does being an active, contributing member of society.

When it comes to website security and keeping your online business safe and secure from hackers and unwanted viruses, most of us need assistance. Website security professionals protect our websites and your customers’ personal information. They guard against identity theft and fraud.

Unless we are online security specialists, and I am not, we cannot protect our websites on our own. We need an honest company with individuals who we can trust and who will guard our personal information and the information of our online visitors as if it were their own.

Companies like Trust Guard and McAfee Secure offer vulnerability scans that check websites for holes that hackers use to infiltrate online systems. They have website security programs that can shield us from the dangers associated with doing business online. So, whether we are shoe salesmen or photographers, policemen or construction workers, let’s take advantage of the benefits of a diverse work force by using experienced professionals to keep our websites safe.
